BEAU Paloma: Zero-Proof Cocktail Inspired by Provence

When BEAU VIVA asked Gabriele Armani, one of the most celebrated bartenders of our time and BEAU VIVA’s first brand ambassador, to create custom mocktails for our zero-alcohol sparkling rosé, Provence was one of his greatest inspirations.

Known as the mixology master behind Paradiso in Barcelona, Armani has long believed in one of BEAU VIVA’s key tenets: Life is to be savored together. 

With the growing alcohol-free movement, more and more people are learning that savoring time together doesn’t have to be over alcohol. Social spaces have long been overrun by the idea that alcohol brings people together, when the opposite can often be true. Those who avoid alcohol for any reason often feel left out of the party, unsure of where they fit in.

Armani and BEAU VIVA have created a collection of mocktails that are designed to be a welcome addition to any party and something that everyone can enjoy together, taking inspiration from the summer nights in Provence, where time seems to stop for those willing to truly give into the moment.

The first of our new zero-proof cocktail series takes the classic Paloma and gives it a Provençal twist.

BEAU Paloma: A Romantic Riff on a Classic Cocktail

The original Paloma recipe hails from Mexico, though its exact creator remains a mystery. Traditionally, it’s made with tequila, grapefruit soda, and lime or a very similar mix of flavors. In many ways, it’s a beautiful celebration of Mexican culture, with bright, vibrant flavors that make you want to dance the night away.

Armani sought to bring a Provençal take on the Paloma, bringing the feeling of the South of France to this classic Mexican cocktail. He also sought to change another key component of the drink. Instead of being a cocktail that only some can enjoy, he created a unique mocktail that’s perfect for anyone, whether they drink alcohol or not. 

In addition to a shared flavor profile, the Mexican Paloma and the BEAU Paloma share another common trait: It’s a drink based on passion.

While a night in Provence is a night of peace, being in the South of France teaches you that passion and peace are not enemies or opposites. In fact, the best nights are a marriage of both. The peace of the calm evening makes the passion burn all the brighter and so much longer. 

The BEAU Paloma is not meant to be drunk quickly. It’s not meant to be something you drink when you’re short on time or worried about being somewhere else. It’s meant to be something that you drink with those you never want to leave, in the moments where you can’t imagine being anywhere else.

As Provence teaches you to rethink what you know about passion and peace, Armani asks you to rethink what you know about making a cocktail, starting with forgoing the alcohol and doing something a little unconventional: burning your ingredients. 

• Start by burning 50 mL of grapefruit juice.
• Then mix it with 10 mL of lavender honey.
• Let the mixture cool, and then top with 80 mL of BEAU VIVA’s sparkling non-alcoholic rosé.
• Add a touch of agave syrup for a little sweetness.

The result is a mocktail with a slow burn, like a romance that makes your stomach tied up in knots in the most beautiful way. It finishes brightly, like staying up until sunrise because you can’t stop talking to the most amazing person. It’s built on passion, the kind of passion that builds you up and revitalizes you.
